Church bells are big things. They need bearings to swing on, ropes, pulleys, frames and so on. A new installation will probably last up to a hundred years with care, but interim maintenance work is essential - and not cheap. The KCACR is able to help with and advise on the maintenance, restoration and installation of church bells in Kent, but the money has to come from somewhere. The Bell Restoration Fund provides grants towards this work, and each District raises money towards the BRF.
Whether you ring in the District or elsewhere - or even if you don’t ring at all - you can still help us by joining our 120 Club. Shares are only £10 per year, and you could win a monthly prize of £20 (£40 in June and December).
For more information, including the latest winning numbers, go to the Maidstone District 120 Club’s own site by clicking on the damaged bell above, or EMail the Hon Promoter, Mal Williams, at Malwyn.Williams@blueyonder.co.uk
